About Me

Cynthia L. Edwards
Greetings. I am a writer (and author) living in the Dallas, Texas area. I write in a wide range of modalities, including business, spirituality, advice, and humor. This particular blog is a mash-up of my very personal opinions, news and cultural items that interested me, and some thoughtful articles on various topics. Enter at your own risk.

Early Career - I attended Mount Holyoke College and the University of Cape Town, and earned a BA in Languages from the latter. After graduating I began my career as a copywriter for J. Walter Thompson in Cape Town, South Africa. Subsequently I built up my portfolio and numerous creative awards at advertising agencies in London (The Creative Business) and Houston (Ogilvy & Mather).

Life Changes - In mid-career I left the (m)ad business and expanded my horizons through other professions, including retail management, conference facilitation, executive speech writing, and marketing and corporate communications. At one point I thought an MBA would be fun, but after completing a couple of courses all I could see in the future was spreadsheets, and the vision made my head hurt. I came to my senses and dropped out.

The Last Lap - I stepped away from paid work after ten years at Razorfish, a top digital advertising agency in the US. I used to write for Media Post's Email Insider, and I have been published in the Dallas Morning News (winning their Golden Pen Award) and various niche journals. In 2011 I instructed two courses for Marketing Profs University on writing for email marketing.

Now that I'm retired, I can write more freely in my own voice on topics that matter to me. I have opinions on lots of thing, such as ...

Etiquette Advice - Having grown up as a world traveler and hobnobbed with business and diplomatic leaders even at a young age, I developed a keen understanding of etiquette for business and social situations. To share my knowledge and help people who have questions, I started a blog entitled Ask Aunt Dandelion to answer readers' questions.
