Challenge: these nice folks seem to think I am a gourmet cook, so in spite of having a busy work day, I have to come up with a dinner that won't totally destroy my street cred.
Solution:
- Vichyssoise served cold with a swirl of cream and snipped parsley on top
- Sourdough dinner rolls and butter
- Orange-avocado salad with poppy seed dressing served over mesclun
- Chicken Country Captain served over Basmati rice
- Mulled pears (Bosc pears poached in red wine with mulling spices and brown sugar) with a dollop of crème fraîche on top and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese on the side
Think this menu will keep my reputation intact?
