Throw another party? Or lie down until the feeling passes?

My Magnificent Obsession

It comes across me like a brainwave, about every three weeks. I must entertain! Who will I invite? What will the theme be? In short – what’s my excuse this time?

October 1, 2007, is the tenth anniversary of my residence in my current house. In fact it is the house’s tenth birthday (if houses have birthdays) as it was brand new when we moved in. The drive to throw an Open House celebrating this occasion and the glories of fall has been nipping at the ankles of my inner party planner for some time.

So far, I am swatting away the idea and not sending out invitations (although I am designing them in my head), just because I know how much work it will be. Plus, I am practically the only person I know who throws parties (real parties, not the kind where you have someone selling jewelry, make-up, kitchen tools, etc.). This puts me in a steady state of social imbalance with my friends and acquaintances.

On the other hand, people seem to enjoy my parties and Lord knows I love to give 'em.

So – to party or not to party for my tenth house anniversary?

Is there a support group for people like me? Stop me before I entertain again!
